      Hi Ian

The G2 gateway software has fallen over again and the the most likely cause is a partially installed update. None of us has the in-depth knowledge to diagnose and repair Linux systems so we are reliant on the likes of Darren G7LWT to access the box remotely to sort it out.

Unfortunately, Darren has been unavailable due to the Olympic Games where he has been involved with comms monitoring. This has forced us to bring forward plans to switch to a Windows based system running the ircDDB Gateway software that runs on Windows.

Running Windows will make maintenance and monitoring much easier and will also open up the gateway to much more content on the Internet. I've already taken delivery of a SSD to build the gateway on.

Another couple of reasons to go to Windows based software are that the Icom G2 gateway software seems set in stone with no developemnt going on at all whereas the Windows software is still being enhanced. We have also been promised lots of support from the author and of course RW is running it so there is some local expertise.

      73 Clive.

Hi Clive thanks for the update, I guessed the other day it must be something along those lines as GB7YD has the same problem, hope the change over to windows goes well, look forward to using it
